Description

Each nuc has a new mated queen and 5 deep frames. Some frames will contain brood (babies), others enough pollen and nectar for a baby hive to be off to a fabulous start, and one will have room for them to grow. Our northern queen bee genetics yield a bee that is gentle, darker than normal, great honey producers, and excellent overwintering ability. Our Carniolan-Italian hybrid breeder stock comes from Dr. Joe Latshaw in Ohio. These nucs will be ready for pickup or delivery during the last half of April.

Our beekeeper Matt is happy to answer any questions. These go quickly because we have many satisfied customers. Reserve for a deposit of $100 with the remaining $100 due prior to delivery in the spring. So, the total price for a nucleus colony is $200. Free delivery in the greater Pittsburgh area.

It’s widely recommended that new beekeepers start with 2 hives. There are two primary reasons for this recommendation. First, if 1 of your hives is struggling, you can pull resources from the stronger colony to help the weaker one. Second, you can learn a lot about bee hive health from comparing your two hives to each other.

Packages contain approximately 3 pounds of bees and a 2021 mated Italian queen in a temporary screened box. The packages are coming from southern Georgia.

Fred’s Honey Farm has delivered package bees to these cities since 2012.

The price of a 3 pound package of bees with a mated 2021 Italian queen is $139 plus Kansas sales tax. There is a $4 per package discount to add manually for payments by check.

Limited time discounts for multiple packages:

2 packages @ $138 each = $276 with a deposit of $76 and $200 cash due at pick up.

3 packages @ $137 each = $411 with a deposit of $111 and $300 cash due at pick up.

Packages are available for pickup only in the Cities listed below and in the “Pickup City” menu when placing an order.

The projected pick up date is the third week in April, 2021. Dates are subject to change with weather conditions. Pick up locations are Kansas City, St Joseph, Emporia, Wichita, Salina, Junction City, Topeka, and Lawrence.

If the date is a Saturday or Sunday, the times will be: 9:30 to 9:35 am in Topeka, 10:45 to 10:50 am in Emporia, 2:00 to 2:20 pm in Wichita, 4:00 to 4:15 pm in Salina, 5:15 to 5:25 pm in Junction City, 3:30 pm in Kansas City and 5:30 pm in St Joe. IF the pick up date falls on a week day, the times will be scheduled for later in the afternoon and evening .

The pick up location, date, and time for your selected city will be emailed to you in mid April, 2021.

If you are not available on the pickup date and time for your city, you will need to arrange for someone else to pick up your bees for you.

If you do not contact us and you don’t pick up your package there is no refund.

Please have suitable bee hive equipment assembled and ready for prompt installation prior to the scheduled pickup date. Newly installed packages should be feed sugar water until some nectar is being stored in the combs. Delaying installation of your bees can result in the loss of your bees. Package bee installation instructions can be found at many locations on the internet.

** Terms**As an agricultural produce, package bees are subject to environmental conditions beyond our control. If we are unable to provide you will the bees you have ordered within two weeks of the scheduled pick up date a full refund of your purchase price will be available.

How Is Honey Deposited

**No Returns** **No Refunds** Once live bees are picked up there is no return allowed. Leaving the pickup location with the produce constitutes customer satisfaction with the order.

We will replace a queen that is discovered dead in her queen cage at the time of installation. Once the queen has been installed in the hive, the queen’s health and well being is your sole responsibility.
